When I was in LA I had to spell my name for a receptionist. My last name has a z in it, I got to it and had the following exchange:

Me- "zed,"
Her - "zee?"
Me -"zed?"
Her - "zee."

I guess it's zee when you're in the States. If any of you Americans come to Canada, remember it's zed here.

I know an eh slips out of me from time to time, but it's more an old person thing.

I went to Mt. Whistler for a trip, and EVERYONE there who was Canadian said "Eh". They also had all the other accent goodies (I got a guy to say 'Lets go out (oot) and about (aboot)' for me.)

We pronounce Z like Tree in the states. I've never actually heard someone pronounce it like Bed, however.

I don't think I have ever said or heard another Canadian say eh. The zed thing was something drilled into us in grade school, and the strap would come out if you said it wrong too many times. The aboot thing makes some girls wet so I may say that from time to time just to see their face get flushed and their legs squeeze together.

I will admit to saying eh. I say it quite a bit I think. I have no preference on Zee or Zed though. I've heard people talk about others saying "aboot" or "ruff" for roof, shit like that and never heard it myself.
