I used to be really into Warcraft 3, mostly custom maps though. The only actual team matches I did were gimmick ones where me and friend would try to win with only heroes or some stupid strategy, it was fun!

One of the fun ones we did every once in a while was building a town hall near one of the enemies bases at the start of the game, going militia and then TPing to that town hall, do as much damage as we could with militia and then start building towers when the militia turned back into workers. Obviously didn't work much, but was really effective when it did :)

I'm a big fan of dota, if anyone plays that custom map. I'm not necessarily the best, but I enjoy it way too much. If we rounded up a crew for some dota rounds I would be game.

I originally hated DotA in the early versions of it, but when a lot of the people I played with started playing WoW, I started playing DotA a lot and got pretty good at it. But of course, not playing it for quite a while means I'm probably horrible at it again. I'm excited to see DotA in Starcraft 2. I've heard the creators of it got an early beta version from Blizzard so they could have a DotA (or something very close to it) right when Starcraft 2 comes out.

While packing up, I found my Wc3 CD's and a CD key, but I think the CD key is only for the WC RoC version, not the expansion (which you need to play DotA). I'll check sometime.

I've never played a warcraft game

While WoW sucks, the older Warcraft games were great (mostly since they weren't MMO's). I've always been a big Blizzard fanboy, now slowly becoming a Valve one thanks to the Orange Box (damn gateway drugs!). I can't wait for the new Blizzard games, Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3, to come out. When those come out, my TF2 time will drastically decrease!

I'm happy to hear that there's going to be something similar to dota on sc2. I love dota, but I don't care for the warcraft universe. I like the sc universe more, so when sc2 comes out in 10 years i look forward to playing the custom maps. Also, find frozen throne and let's suck at dota together.

I absolutely hated regular warcraft 3, but loved the TD's and DOTA peaked at 3.7, played that almost every night for hours and hours. Currently I play Demigod which is a new stand alone game based on DOTA.

Sadly the DOTA community became horrible and I only rarely play now. Same with my IV friends, we used to have enough to filed a full game of just us which was great fun. Then WoW sucked their souls and we barely could field half a team. I could probably get one or two of them to pick it up again if some of us were playing.

The RTS portion of Warcraft was best in 2, 3's was just an rpg that failed for me.

I used to play dota 1v1 with an old friend Tenjynx on battlenet also Undead Assault (pretty fun game) I'd get my face raped I don't know how to turn back and run in dota xD always go head first into the towers xD

I would be all for that, played DOTA a ton to fill my TFC / CSS void before TF2
