Now you snipers can stop headshotting me from across the map, and instead headshot me all up in my face like you should be :)

Saw the blog update just now. Its an interesting idea, but per their last post they want to make snipers get out into the battle....

The bow is a great idea and I had hoped for something along those lines but those were dashed with their last post... The long bow should have some decent range, I am not expecting cross map range but it is a LONG bow after all. Still crits in the head, will make hitting cloaked spys flippen funny and many other good things. The ammo amount is not too bad, the charge time is good. I just hope reload time is not too long or it will not be that viable. They bolt travel time had better be fairly realistic to a real arrow, dodging possible, but not as easy as the flare or ball.

Lets hope they dont release it as broken as the stupid scout bat which still needs some tweaks. That is not as annoying now since people went back to their normal classes.

Looks like I will be playing spy a ton when this releases.

I dunno, I'm actually expecting this to be pretty good range. Here are my unsubstaniated guesses! I think the lack of a scope will be the main thing that hampers the range of the bow.

1) Has less arc than the flare gun, but arc does exist
2) Arrow shoots MUCH faster than the flare gun
3) Reload time is pretty much the same as the sniper rifle
4) Charging up the shot is faster than the sniper rifle charges.
5) Makes you cooler.

the picture is a recurve bow. they mention bolts but thats crossbow ammo.

sounds like the crit will have super long knockback.

probably about 50 yd range with some possibly some arcing and defiantly a slower projectile.. hopefully unlike the bolt thrower in hl2.. you probably wont be able to dodge it if you see it coming but the hunter will have to lead moving targets. possibly weird crosshairs for it too. doesn't look like itll come with a scope so cross-map sniping is a nono.

Wow. Kotaku says its coming out this week.

Valve just sent a press release our way confirming that the upcoming Sniper update for Team Fortress 2 will be a bit less, uh ... upcoming. The update will be available to download through Steam sometime later this week, as Valve could not provide us with a definite date of release for the new goods. So, what is there to look forward to?

That's pretty quick, is this the shortest time between class updates they've had? Seems like they had been quite a long game in between all the others.

Edit: Eh, maybe not. The first 3 updates all had about a 2 month gap in between updates. It was just a longass time between heavy and scout.

that all really depends on how long the arrow sticks in your limb. It could get pretty annoying.

Good point, but I usually end up dead (more often than not) when I go after some people so the arrow will be small hindrance to me :D

But on the off chance I survive having that on longer than flame or water droplets would be rather annoying.

Finally got that new gamemode that was teased last update. Two side by side carts pushed up hill. Also 2 arena maps - ONE WITH WEATHER (well just rain)! The other which looks sorta like the middle of CP_Steel.

I like that 2 of the new maps are during night (or at least dark) and 1 of them has rain added. 2nd arena map looks intresting, going to be hell for anyone against a pyro/forceanature/demo/soldier if you can be knocked off into radation at any time

About time they put night back in, this makes me happy as I can finally put a proper sky over my map and reset it for night, which the origional was set in. I was hoping they would do this so I would not have to make my own :o Hate arena but the maps look very well made.

hmm.. maybe only works for backstabs? or all melee? well it wouldnt make sense for all melee since some of it isnt metallic (gloves)

looks like it takes your 2nd slot... so no more machine gun.

for spy? simple. just shoot them instead. or knife them from the front?

some speculation that the spy update will occur at the same time... some kinda teaser with a spy cloaked behind the sniper on the day 3 page

I don't know what to think of about this one. It seems underpowered, but there are too many unanswered questions to know for sure. (I'm guessing it replaces the smg, but maybe its an additional item, kinda like the hats?)

most definitely gotta brush up on that, anyways I wonder if when you face stab it will shock you most likely.


Edit: figured out the perfect strategy. jump on the sniper's head *if crouching* and shoot downward so you get a few shots before he figures out where you are at,

i'm sure it will shock you, because a facestab is just what was supposed to be a backstab but the hitboxes registered wrong or lag fucked it up

I wonder if you can shoot it off? Let your bullet take the damage? That way they might not know it blew or from where and you can still stab them. I am glad it will slow them down but what a stupid update. Just as bad as the assinine sandman.

I am curious to know more about it but I doubt I will use it. Using my ears and kukri is enough to usually make a spy think twice.

Lol, cloak sound makes noise, even with out surround I can still hear you, just cannot pinpoint you as easily...for now :)
