Damn, this is really going to change the game alltogether. Just for the love of God I hope they don't have a leveling system - nothing will screw the balance of this game other than a leveling system.

We'll see what happens. I dont mind some changes.

Theres so many balancing problems / good things that can come out of it. I would be wary of so many changes though. TF2 was in development for a REALLY long time and the things they cut and changed made TF2 so popular. With them going back to that type of style a little bit I worry it could hurt the game. Its just too soon to tell.

This is an interesting path they are taking with TF2. We'll see if it works. I'd be quite surprised if they added grenades.

Some of the changes could be fine but others I'mmore reprehensible about. I.e. I really don't want there to be a leveling system in TF2 nor customizable gear. Either one really screws up the balance in the game. Rhazjk and Rip kill everyone nough as is, can you imagine if their stats were going up and leveling for all that including the time they play?

Headgear however I want; I don't give a damn what it does, I just want the Pyro to have a voice. I'm tired of being jealous of all the awsome quotes the other classes get while all I get is Mr. Mumbles; it was entertaining during the first year or so but now it's tiresome.

I dunno about headgear. Right now, I love the way the game looks, I dunno if a big 'fro on the demoman or a football helmet on the heavy will be as great as they think. The aesthetics of the game are already great. I don't need a "Customize Your Look!" feature.

I agree with the Pyro sounds though. It was funny to begin with, but gets old after a while. I don't know how they can add them though. Only idea I can come up with is the helmet thing coincides with the release a "Meet the Pyro" video. The video would include having the pyro take off his (or her, you conspiracy nuts) mask and revealing his face. And then the pyro "helmet" is actually just the pyro without his mask.

That seems like a ton of work though for Valve. Adding a ton of pyro speech and mapping a new head onto the pyro with facial expressions seems excessive for a non pyro patch so I doubt it'll happen.

Actually all I've ever wanted to fix the pyro pblem is to just add a "Pyro translator" just put some text in the chat log or something for what he is sayin or the ability to toggle mumble speech with regular speech. That wouldn't even require changing hte pyro's look just adding in some new voice clips for him.

You know what I would like for the pyro, more mumbled speech. If you look at the sound clips for all of the classes they have about 5 or 6 options for every line, and sometimes much more. The pyro has about 1 or 2 speech options for every line. I don't need to hear him speak clearly, I just need to hear him mumble some more freaking lines of dialogue.

I think Valve is disenclined to do that simply because no one understands the pyro. So sooner or later it all sounds the same anyway.

if they do unveil the pyro I think they should give them a scary phantom of the opera style look O_o but not really maybe an awesome burnt face!

I think the pyro gets a goalie mask and a box of chicklets.

i don't get it arnold, but a goalie mask would be cool if it looked like jasons mask

Here are my suspicions based on various junk said on the TF2 forums and my own thoughts.

- There will be no leveling system
- Items will be dropped semi-randomly with semi-random levels(Although I have no idea when or how often).
- Level will not be an indication of power, but an indication of how much it varies from the original.
- Items that will be dropped will be variations of the existing weapons and unlocks.

For example, a rocket laucher may drop with 5 loaded ammo but -25% percent firing speed.

A natasha might drop with a more narrow firing cone, but slows slightly less.

A level 2 sticky laucher might have +1% damage and -1% ammo capacity

A level 100 sticky laucher might have +25% damage, -25% explosion radious +25% ammo and -25% reload time. (no idea how much the actual percentages will relate to the level though)

The kinds of weapons that won't drop are crossovers, like a hp draining backburner, or a rocket laucher that always crits if the enemy is on fire.

The cool thing about this is that you may be able to collect several items that may fit your play style or gives you access to different play styles given the situation. I plan to toss most of my sniper and scout weapons so that I can have more variety on the pyro and soldier weapons.
