I've been having trouble convincing myself to come to phlorph lately just because I'm so tired of playing goldrush and dustbowl for hours, so here are some ideas to get more people like me coming to the server more often.

1) Faster map turnover. Sometimes these gold rush and dustbowl rounds last forever. Maybe we could set the server up to cycle after max 2 rounds(that way everyone can play at least one on attack and one on defence)

2) Maps maps maps. I know some people are hardcore "lets play valves maps and nothing but", but I really think variety is important to keep interest going. Here are a few of my map selections:

pl_swift_final: Its a big long cart push that seems pretty well balanced. Normally this is the kind of map I don't like, but its pretty well done. The last point often ends up as a pretty epic battle.

cp_gydan: A surprisingly fun CP map. Apparently there is an exploit to get up in the skybox recently found(I haven't seen anyone do that whenever I play on it) so it might be better to wait on this one.

tc_meridian_b5: A multi-stage ctf map. I haven't played it enough to say if its good, but I had fun playing on it the one or two times I found a server with it. Also, has a giant robot, if you like that kinda thing!

pl_mill_b5: Another cart map. If you like cart maps(I don't really) and you like variety(I do!) then here is another fairly good one.

cp_yukon: I've played this twice and enjoyed it.

cp_ironbowl: This is a crazy crazy attack/defend map. I don't know what I think of it, because its too crazy.

cp_corporation_b3: Some people don't like this map, but I had fun on it. Multi-stage attack/defend map.

cp_fallout: Not a bad map, although a little to much walking occasionally.

cp_broma: A not bad gravelpit style map.

ctf_staging_a11: Techically still in alpha, but I think its at a pretty good state right now. I played this last night and had a lot of fun with it. One of the neat features is each time you capture the intel, the intel moves to another spot and your base gets more paths opened into it. So the intel gets progressively easier to get each time.

pl_waste_b4: A tug of war cart map! Pretty fun, also comes in arena form.

The round limit for map change is all that could use some adjustment, I think its at like 9 wins or something?

I like custom maps, only if the game play is there and the maps well built to back up that game play. Some maps look amazing but the game play blows. Or the Game play would be fun if they can designed the map around it.

Any maps added should be vote / admin only for a while till we see how everyone responds to em. (Think thats how its been done?)

Thats why a lot of people stick with the valve maps.

Me personally? I played too much TF2 in the past month, so I bought Demigod and am taking a small hiatus from TF2 so I can return fresh and excited to play it. I think some others are doing the same.

Server itself has been rock solid since the last fix to it which is good. A few new maps and chang up on the rotation might help a little bit.

new maps are in see other post ;)

Thank you for the 2 cents though

I am somewhat hesitant at adding new maps as in the past it has had more of a negative impact.

Although, as of late the server seems to have a extremely solid following, more than even the start so we will see how it goes.

Yeah, I posted in that thread as well, was more responding to the initial post.

If new maps are left as vote only options then we can test them out with the reg's or if people are up for it to try and not kill the server.

If they are good then perhaps rotation if enough people and you are for it :p

we've gone through our new maps. black mesa, follower and swift are all fun, the only one with a poor reception was the orange map. I think more new maps would be great, we had the server full and everyone (but radhaz) seemed to be enjoying themselves.

ew.

I dont remember the map name, it was like a cramped version of Gravelpit and it was well made but didnt flow very well IMO. The PL map we played after that was fun though.

Yeah, I got to play last night and the new maps are great. Maybe pulling some of the stock maps from rotation to increase the turnover might help.

I would prefer not having too many new maps but yeah, some extra rotation would be nice to add some more variety, especially since it often comes down to one of five maps on average. I personallly would prefer that the rotation time not change though, if we get tired of it we can always RTV but the rotation time seems good to allow about four rounds, giving each side two chances at offense and two on defense. Shorter than that and I don't think it would feel like the maps were on for any sort of time I could call substantial.
