Speaking to Satan and Rhazik today we were tossing around the idea of another get together similar to what happened last year at PDX lan PDX Blog (http://community.phlorph.com/showthread.php?t=297). Just putting the idea out there to gather ideas of dates and such.

I dunno about "we were tossing around the idea". It was more like you tossing the idea AT me while I curled up in a corner scared at the thought of being near Cobra in real life.

As long as I have a little time to get settled. Sometime in the medium future and I'm there. I don't think I'll get to either Maker Faire or The Amazing Meeting so PDX/Phlorph LAN would be kewl. It may disqualify me but I don't drink. I do like playing and meeting up with you hooligans would be interesting. Pizza and bullshit is king.

it probably wont be in portland. It will probably be somewhere in the middle of where everyone is, to make traveling equal for everyone

Would be fun, but hard to get up to your area unless I am at my parents in Denver :p Although my vacation time has been nil for the last few years lol.

its going to be real hard to find a location that is convenient to everyone that wants to go, so to equalize the travel i was thinking Kabul, Afghanistan

washington dc to kabul about 6800 miles in a straight line over the north pole
portland to kabul about 6900 miles in a straight line over the north pole
vancouver bc to kabul about 6500 miles in a straight line over the north pole

therefore only a difference of 400 miles . . only about 8 hours driving . . i think this option is the best we are gonna get and the most convenient one available. although the online travel booking sites (itravel and expedia) won't quote flights to kabul at this time online. i think they want you to call them to make arrangements, this too is easy, as they are all toll free numbers etc, and if anyone needs, i can call them on your behalf if you are shy

Dallas to Kabul 7,713 miles.

I see how it is...

It seems to me like there are probably only so many people who would be cool to do this. That said, it would be awesome to hang out with 10/15 other Phlorph regulars, play a little TF2 in the same room together (Internet Cafe? people don't need to bring computers then). Obviously nights are filled with shenanigans.

We could also find a LAN that works for everyone, although that does make it harder for people without vehicles. I suppose it is possible to take computers on the bus though.

I'd be more than willing to take a bus somewhere if someone will put me up in their house or split hotel costs with me. Especially with cool people (like Rhazjk) coming.

Personally I'd prefer to just plan a small (~10 people?) weekend event, and have it more to meet people than play computer games. I might be in the minority though, so if you are in and have a preference (or if you'd be in only if certain conditions are met) let them be known here.

You better be down with this Rhazjk.

Well, if we're doing a LAN, why not do a Giant LAN.

I'm sure Cobra and I could hook up at least a couple of people with accomodations...

I would be up for something. I would just need to know where and when and how to get there. This quarter is going to be a little bit busy for me what with graduation and then seeking employment, but it would be cool to get together and play with you guys. Also to see what rhazjk looks like in real life so I can know the face of the man who burns me to death every time i'm a spy.

July had been mentioned for the month, nothing set in stone.

When and where is the main thing for me. I don't have a vehicle right now, so that makes things more interesting. I'll be down in southern Idaho for most of the summer, so that'll make my travel times even longer. It'd be nice to do sometime in August when I'm back north for school, but that is kinda a long time from now.

So as of now, it's a "maybe".

well, it doesn't really matter where so much for me, I'll either hitch a ride or fly. I'm not that crazy about sitting in a fuckin' room with a bunch of dudes, plus I'll get pissed at armpit and rhazjk in person.... I'm more into this for the drinking with strangers in a mystery town aspect.

I'd come if it's at a decent time of year within decent traveling distance. I'm almost as far south as we come from; though I could probably carpool with Sherrif and Protector since we all live in the same general area.
