So today at work my buddy took a phonecall and it apparently connected about halfway into a robbery. You can hear the clerk and the robber arguing and eventually the clerk gets shot. A lot of dead air occurs then for the last minute or two you can hear the clerk running and then talking to some guy. I found this news article about the robbery, clerk tried to chase the dude with his own gun even after he got blasted. (http://www.wzzm13.com/news/local/story.aspx?storyid=107435&catid=48)

question is, how'd the robber lose his gun in the first place? sounds like the owner may have forced him to drop it by sheer force of will.

oh and upon listening to the file : good lord, how many "niggah"s were in there? never mind the oddity of calling someone obviously middle eastern a niggah.

GRAND RAPIDS -- When Amos Bell spotted the owner of the Leonard ShortStop chasing a masked gunman Tuesday morning, he didn't hesitate tohelp.

He got out of the car he was riding in, and gave chase. "(The owner) was running up the street with a gun," said Bell, 18. "Iknew it wasn't going to be nothing good." Bell and the owner, who had been shot in the leg in the 10:40 a.m.holdup, lost sight of the robber, but police caught the suspect a half-hour later hiding in some bushes.

Police brought Bell and the hobbled owner, whose name wasn't released, to the scene of the captureto identify the robber. Once there, it got a little more complicated for Bell: Not only was he afriend to the store owner, stopping to chat every day, but he knew thealleged robber, too.

"It was one of my buddies, that's the bad thing about it," Bell said. "Aguy I'm cool with."

Still, he said, he could not defend the robbery, particularly hittingthe store, at 1038 Leonard St. NW, that serves the neighborhood andseems to sell virtually everything. "He's a nice guy," Bell said of the store's owner. "This is the cornerstore. He's just trying to help us out."

Oh wow, tries to help chase down a robber, and the robber turns out to be a friend later when he's asked to help identify him. That sucks.
