This game was a huge disappointment. Metascore of 79.

WHY? The maps are very nice and the killing animations are really fun to watch (for the first couple of hours), but....so what? The more moves you learn, the more likely the moves (keystroke combos) you learned before won't work as they did before. That aside....you just keep doing the EXACT same thing over and over again (meaning...you move around virtually the exact same location, bang some keys, watch the animations as you kill with stabbing weapons), go back to base, watch a pointless and long cut scene (which you can't skip), go back out, do it all over again.

someone who thinks this was a good game, explain why you think so. maybe you can change my mind and I won't feel I wasted time/money.

Unfortunately my impressions were the same as yours. It was pretty to watch though.

I enjoyed the game despite its technical flaws

1. The story was interesting - though the Desmond half is incomplete the story of altair and the crusades is rather interesting as are the characters he interacts with as he unravles what is going on.

2. The environments are astounding, the cities actually feel alive and are quite expansive

3. Acrobatics - while I feel the combat is a bit stiff and not that great, running around the city on rooftop and even escaping guards can be fun just for how the climbing and running mechanics work. That said the better joy in the game is stealth kills, using hte city to sneak around and get to your target undetected, the different environments are what keep this nicely mixed up for me.

That said I'm not going to say it's a "great" game, rather that it is average when you take all its flaws into account. But I certainly do not believe it is as bad as some people claim.

I think that's a big problem with tons of games now, they worry so much about making it look great but they just end up having you repeat the same thing every other mission.
