If I dont spend most of my night working on my new HTPC again Warhead should be installed from steam by time I get home :D

Loved the first one (minus the last two bits which were lame game play wise.)

Crysis was very pretty. Unfortunately, that's the only good thing I have to say about it. They built an engine that could have powered a spectacular, free-roaming game with a dynamic storyline to accompany its dynamic environment. Instead they turned it into just another linear shooter with stupid gameplay, stupid characters, and stupid cutscenes. From what I've seen of this expansion, they've taken everything that was bad about it and made it louder. So you'll forgive me if I don't share this excitement.

I dunno, the gameplay in Crysis was pretty good up until the last two missions. I enjoyed the wide open area's in which I could choose how I wanted to attack. Combine that with the good graphics and it's not a shabby game. I have played many games with worse acting in them than Crysis so eh on that front.

Warhead was short, and did not expand on the storyline in the way I would have hoped but it did open up a little more explination to one aspect of it. Overall it was fun, it felt much more linear than sandbox'y but that could just be the way they drove the story line this time around. I hope the sales on Warhead will be good enough to drive them into finishing the main ones story soon. It has a lot of potential.

Warhead also was optimized, I think if they had done that on Crysis it would not have suffered so much in the criticism area.

Eh, after BF1942 and Desert Combat that style of gameplay has died out. Even in BF2 I didnt find it as fun with the changes to game style.

Free for all in crysis I think would be killer if they could get it working like the old Delta Force online games. Talk about MMO FPS in sandbox environments. Lol I HATED spending 10 minutes hiking all around the map to get a good vantage point and walking into a pungi stick right as I get there lol.

"Pretty good" is the problem. It's ok, usual, par. And because the Cry-engine itself had the potential of being so much better, it looses extra points. Think of the Source engine. What if they spent all this time and energy creating an advanced physics engie, then didn't utilize those features by.. oh I don't know... not putting in the gravity gun? Or not having any physics puzzles or traps? It would be a waste of a good engine, wouldn't it? Crysis does exactly that. The features of the cry-engine are all about creating an open-ended, realistic world that allows you to roam around freely. Except it doesn't let you roam around freely at all. There may be multiple entrances to each enemy base, but the entire game is still linear and scripted. Why create a day/night cycle and dynamic weather patterns if you don't even plan on using them?
