Power supplies are easy to replace. Here's a guide:

I bought a stupid new power supply. The cheapest one at fryz I could find was 50 fuckin buxxx, but whatever, I have my computer back. I'm going to build a new computer when I get my inheritance in like a month or so, so I'd like everyone to help out, I want a fucked up monster. I already have 2 hard drives and a good moniter and some cd burners n shit, so that stuff is out of the way already luckily. I'm thinking $800-$1000 for the thing, can I get a badass computer with that, considering I have some of the stuff already?

It made me sick seeing how much computer you can get for $1000 these days. I configured a 3.0ghz Core2Duo machine on NewEgg that would embarrass many computers costing three times as much that are bought from retailers/builders.

It made me think back to my parents' first computer, a 133mhz Micron Home MPC that cost $3500+, with a 17" monitor, and 32mb ram, a 2mb video card, and a 1.8gb hard drive. Back then that 17 was HUGE, like freakishly big, it was almost gaudy. Now anything smaller than 22" seems cramped to me. Back then you could even haggle on the price of a computer as if it were a car.

My first computer was an Apple IIc. It seemed like a good deal at the time.

You can get a pretty damn good computer for 800-1000USD today. Do you have any hardware preferences? I prefer AMD and some people will only use Intel.

I prefer AMD too, but if I had the money I'd surely go for a nice quad core set up from Intel

I dont really have any preferences because I don't really know much about the innards of the computer, I mean I know basic shit, but I dont really know how to build a computer thats for sure. This is going to be very interesting
