I'm curious if anyone else on Phlorph will be going to the Lion Claws 7 event. I've been part of the staff since LC4 and will be making the trip from Ak to Ca again this year. It's going to be particularly exciting since the US Army is officially sponsoring our events now. I don't expect anyone here to be coming but, hey, it doesn't hurt to ask. Unless you do show up and stab me or something.

For those that have no idea what I'm talking about, airsoft is a game very broadly similar to paintball. However, everything is geared to be realistic (unlike paintball) and it is fast becoming popular as a training tool for military and para-military units. The largest of these games are part of the "Lion Claws" series. Note that there is a good chance this is nothing like any airsoft stuff you have seen in stores or on youtube.

Sounds interestings, do you have any online references or youtube links that DO give us an idea about this event? How do they make it more realistic? Do they use poison gas pellets instead of paint? You've survived 3+ of these dangerous events?!!! Just ignore my sarcasm, the first two questions were sincere.

I am the sole survivor. Here's a video that was circulating around a while ago. It was filmed by a player using a helmet camera.

This is from "Operation: Irene" which simulates the blackhawk down situation. Col (ret) Danny McKnight was the leader of the team wearing desert BDU's. Op: Lion Claws is in a much more open area(1.5mi/sq). So far no one has posted any good videos of it, but the style of play and staff(me) is basically the same. I think you'll see the extra realism clearly.
