In case you might not have heard, at the 27thC3 (27C3) a group by the name of fail0verflow revealed that they officially succeeded in cracking the PS3. And not via the USB exploit found earlier last year. Without going into crazy detail, this essentially means that the PS3, due to hardware and software design issues, has been officially cracked much like it's partner the PSP.
What does that mean?
Well, custom firmware for the PS3 in the future, that enable things like running backup images of PS3 games.
Homebrew applications such as emulators and whatnot.
And a plethora of other things.
So, if you have a PS3, keep an eye out for information about it, I for one am quite excited to finally use my PS3 like I did my PSP.
