We have an external ftp as was before, with stellar speeds independent of the server.
Levi/Cobra have combined to facilitate this.
It's the same provider that did 500kbps PER person downloading before.
This is due to the fact that unfortunately the server 1. if the maps are on it does not do .bz, which means it's 1/3 bigger or more. 2. It seems to have an internal throttling mechanism, probably because it's built into the engine some how.
I could have probably pointed the map download back onto my server via another account, but this is still a better solution as it completely offloads it.

Keep in mind that the server has nearly unlimited bandwidth, and cpu/memory sits at nil. It's a function of the internal source engine that is preventing the fast downloads. I've pulled straight via both ftp and scp nearly max theoretical speeds (around 65 - 83Mbps).

The speeds sucked back when we were doing the offsite ftp?
The offsite ftp was significantly faster than fpsbanana I would imagine
