what? not one post about the olympics? it was a great time. did no one here come up/over to check it out? I thought some of you close to the border may have made it up.
I felt the best part was how supportive everyone was even when the wins were few during that first week.
Did you hear the story of that Slovenian woman? Winning a medal with broken ribs and punctured lung? One tough chick (http://www.vancouversun.com/sports/Olympic+cross+country+Slovenia+Petra+Majdic+determ ination+grit+wins+bronze/2583221/story.html). Amazing.
Final medal results (http://winterolympics.external.bbc.co.uk/medals/2010-standings/index.html). Sweet.

Can't say I was particularly excited about the Olympics, but then again I've never really enjoyed the Olympics that much.
That's pretty hardcore about those broken ribs and punctured lung though. And that luge racer that died too.

Yes, i was really surprised that something like that could happen, but after reading the comments of Udo Gurgel, the German who designed the track, it seems that crashes always stay within the track.
"We've already designed six Olympic courses," designer Udo Gurgel told Sport-Bild magazine's online edition. "No one has been thrown from the track before."
I'm sure every country, the international luge federation and the IOC evaluate, test and approve the sites, probably run countless computer simulations to calculate the best lines for their athletes to take, but maybe they never consider crash scenarios, since they always just slide to no worse than a case of road rash. Perhaps due to the infinite number of possibilities? Hopefully, now they will.
I keep thinking about how excited the man and his family must have been only a week before the event. so much promise. gone.

I didn't watch a single olympic event, I only know that someone died, some girl split her pants and she had a nice butt, and the canadians won gold in hockey with all but 2 of their players being US employees

Heh, ya I know. bastards. you have all our players ensuring the Stanley never makes it back home. Must be tough for Pittsburgh fans; Love Crosby last year, hate em last Sunday.
But, 80% of the teams are in u.s. cities so, that will be the way of things for a long time to come.
I missed the ass though. Were there pics posted somewhere? There were a lot of good looking women on that podium. I'd be more than happy to see a nice picture of that particular event.

Never really had time to watch any of it. Saw a bit of this and that but in total I watched about 3 minutes O_O.

A true Olympic Sport (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L9upWn_eNYs)
I've been far too busy with classes to really sit down and watch anything.
It is a shame about the Luge fatality, but that is one death out of how many runs? Over how many years on how many courses? I don't think it really is much to reconsider the sport, but will help emphasize the safety of the course. Gotta be careful when doing dangerous sports.
