Anyone else tried this?
I did for 5 minutes yesterday.
Too busy and crowded to quickly find what you want. A lot of good ideas, stolen from zune and apple lol. Has potential.
But be warned if you use it, it has some memory chomping problems.
I'll try again on their next update.
Looks pretty though.

I was playing a pug which usually take a bit to start up down here do to low population. While we were all messing around waiting for people to come it came up in the chat and like 5-8 people left to install it only 1 person came back after like 20 minutes saying it would automatically closed when he opened steam so he had delete and reinstall steam. Also, on the got frag forums someone said that leaving it on idle would use 5% cpu and when he scrolled down his friends list it would bump up to 50%. I'll wait till it gets optimized.

Could use some optimization, but it is quite nicely.
Its basically Zune for gaming - making it near-perfect.
I like it. Some places take too much space to work, but other than that only minor changes should be necessary.

I got it and changed the config files to show everything in a TF2 font. Looks pretty sweet.

Its looking nice and not hogging too many resources. :) I'm really liking how slick it is.

not hogging too many resources.
Wonder if they updated it.
Mine was eating 132mb just looking at my games list.
The original UI doing the same thing used just 21 mb.
Thats a crazy difference and can add up if you leave browsers open or anything else in the background when playing.
Hope they updated it, I would not mine playing around with it some more.

Yup using it right now, though I agree it needs some serious optimization and stability. It seems to crashes more often than the regular steam. And despite using webkit as the basis for its browser, it feels much slower using it in game than the original IE one.

It would be better if you could configure it like "classic" steam. I like the skinny window, not this fat bastard where all the games have some giant logo making me scroll all over the place. I can't even tell which games are installed and which ones aren't. One is white, and the other is slightly less white. The segmented list was perfect, why'd they have to change it? It's really late and new things infuriate me.

Hehe, if you have ever been to apple.com/trailers it is set up like that.
If you look on to the top right of the list window you can change it to the classic list, just larger icons (I like the small old list much better personally) or a grid mode with a zoom feater.
You can separate the default list to show only installed games etc, or make your own separate filters.

Except that it doesn't remember what layout I select, so I have to reset what games I want to display and what order I want them displayed in every time I launch Steam. And they could have at least let me resize the window more so it doesn't take up half my screen. It's like they made a conscious decision to remove everything intuitive and successful about the old design just to make it different. Valve has been doing that a lot recently and it's very annoying.
