So, me and Satan had a bunch of giggles with Auto Tune, here's a few links to set it up.
Firstly, Scrambly.
http://megaupload.com/?d=XL0V64YD
The download for that is uhm...well, you're not buyin' a copy of it to put it simply. >.>
After you finish the install for that, make sure you don't run it immediately after. Go into the .rar file, find the crack folder, copy and paste those files into your Scrambly folder.
Next you'll need to get Auto Tune's VTS plugin. You can find that on the Piratebay just by looking up Auto Tune.[
Run Scrambly, then configure the options to add a new Voice Mask, import the Auto Tune VTS file, then configure Auto Tune to whatever settings you want. If you want to know our settings, you can find them online just by looking up T-Pain's auto tune settings.
If you need any help setting it up, lemme know.

For Ripskin, Auto Tuning is the horrid act of automatically adjusting the pitch and tone of something, generally people's voices. It's hugely popular in modern music, especially rap, because they can't sing to save their lives. A huge example is T-Pain. Well, me and Satan wanted to have that on TF2 and everywhere else, and we figured out how. :3

Yeah, I'm familiar with what it does, but that link posted above mine is .... why?! lol.
As to doing it in TF2... why not just use a voice modulator on your mic input? Some realtek drivers come with a karaoke feature that does just that to some extent.

childish, annoying and does not belong in the competitive environment of phlorph. anyone using autotune will get 2 warnings from me and then will be banned for 24 hours. cobra is gay.

Actually, Autotune is primarily popular in Live performance, largely used by Country singers and others. Its all just to make sure you are perfect, even if you can sing.
Excluding artists like Cher, its only been recently popularized that artists have used Autotune to inversely modify their voice, making them less perfect and more like a broken robot.
I've always found it a cool effect. You don't need to know how to sing, but I don't care if it is a person singing - I never listen to the words anyways.

Bloody annoying when its applied like that. The Portal Still Alive song worked as it was composed to work like that. Not a mangled mess of tones.

I believe the generation gap is painfully visible in this thread.

I don't see a generation gap for painfully bad audio made out of anything people can find.
If it was done to someone actually trying to sing I might be able to appreciate it. Or if they were using better source clips to come up with something more resembling song instead of harsh machinery noises.
People pulling that out on the server get insta muted lol.

Wasn't quite my point Rip.
I meant we younger folk find it entertaining. Doesn't mean I think it's a better way of producing music, or anything like that. But I find the effect funny, not annoying.

What do you define as younger folk? I'm only 25.
I never said it was better or worse way of producing music, and I said I liked the effect when used in portal or actual music. The Still Alive song was much more enjoyable and funny as a result. But some lady in the senate babbling about health care, or some baby / Kanye talking about whatever they were just sounds annoying to me and some other people.
I dont see a generation gap, I see a serious difference in tastes and what people find funny or painful to listen too. My wife turned it off quicker than I did and she's the same age as me. I know some older people who would probably get a kick out of that...

I actually prefer the original version of Still Alive over the version they did for Portal.
Not to say that Portal's version is bad in any way.
My opinion is that people think of music relying too much on people singing. I can never remember the lyrics to music because I don't care in the least if someone is reading a poem while my brain takes in the music. I'll even sing along, but I do that in the same way that I would to emulate one of the instruments playing, giving no meaning to the words.
With AutoTune, voice becomes even less of "A person talking" and more "Look at the sounds I can now produce." Whether the sounds are good or bad is up to the person, but I think people need to relate it far less to a "Singer" and more as another instrument to more properly judge it.

Well I'm declaring Rip officially 45, because he sounds like one.
Seriously though, I'm only 21, and most people around my age all find Auto Tune funny to some extent, not annoying.
It's only annoying when it's used in music. Nothing says "No Talent" more-so than Auto Tune.

Aside from a few months in my favor yup :) Whats weird is when people learn I have been married over 4 years, and known my wife for 8...

I find that a compliment on how the people in our age group generally act these days, puck ass pricks.
I know what your saying though and I could see Auto Tune being funny depending on what was being said or done, but the examples I saw on you tube were just annoying to these old bones :p.
In some music like Spears, boy bands, some other whore I cannot think of I agree its no talent and Auto Tune cannot recover it. But using it on people with talent (or at least some) to change the sound can be neat and make some good music.
