Some of you may have noticed I occasionally spew music over the voice comm channel. This is why:

I do a lot of audio stuff so it's very handy to have a USB mixer acting as the sound card. However, it is frequently used for more professional applications where the game gear must be temporarily disconnected. It isn't always reconfigured the same way afterwards and sometimes I simply forget which channels are active, thus the strange transmissions.

That is... much more than I expected. Cool.

Pretty nifty I'm a bit of an audiophile myself ;)

Nifty.

So maybe you know, being into sound mixing, the answer to a question I've had for a while. Is it possible to remix peoples voice comm. on the fly so they sound different (like those slow motion voice sounds the bad guys always use in the movies when making ransom calls, for example. Or even Darth Vader).

So...possible? If so, how?

I guess that warrants a reply. Sorry for the delay.
With most mixers there are dedicated effects i/o's. That orange plug on the far left goes to a tube amp to alter the microphone sound. It could just as easily be swapped for a more blatant effects processor, like Dearth Vader. If you don't have a mixer there are also software options. There are probably some free programs floating about the web but the only ones I'm familiar with are plugins for more expensive software (Soundbooth and Cubase4). Try google.

The toasty microphone PSU:

It's a Stewart PM-4. They are normally quite reliable and very stable but I just had to try some mods. It's been restored to the original configuration now.
